The Confident Karate Kid

Have you ever wondered how martial artists always seem to be so confident and self-assured? The secret of their confidence comes from their training. It takes time to become confident in themselves and to prove they can accomplish their goals. As martial artists practice their karate week after week they begin to see the progress they are making and how far they have come. They have proven to themselves that they can do whatever they set their minds to.

Children especially benefit from this gained confidence. Childhood is notorious for feelings of self-consciousness and a lack of confidence in oneself. Children may question themselves with thoughts such as, “What am I good at?”, or, “How do I fit in?”, and even, “Who am I?”. All these questions can be difficult to answer. Children who train in martial arts are often able to begin to answer these questions. They are good at karate. They fit in with a group of people who share their passion for martial arts. They are a student and a martial artist. This confidence in themselves and their abilities eases emotional insecurity, leading to a calmer, happier child.
